Twin City Amateur Astronomers (TCAA)

observatory"Since 1960, the members of the Twin City Amateur Astronomers
have explored the heavens, sought to share the joys of astronomy with the community, and generally just have a good time."

The TCAA is a non-profit education corporation charted with the State of Illinois that is open to everyone interested in astronomy from novices to professionals. No experience or equipment is required, only just an interest in astronomy. They serve the Bloomington-Normal community by providing observation sessions at the Sugar Grove Observatory, educating though the use of public talks and observing sessions, encouraging youth to become interested in science though programs, and by promoting astronomy though exhibits, displays, and demonstrations.

Sugar Grove Nature Center is a proud host of the TCAA's Sugar Grove and Prairie Sky Observatories. Each month, April though October, the TCAA provides the public with a glimpse of the universe though a short presentation, sky tour with a laser pointer, and the opportunity to view the sky though a telescope. These public observing sessions are free to the public.
